Join one of our co-design workshops happening online on the 4/12/2025 (10am-12pm GMT) and 12/12/2025 (2-4pm GMT) to improve the design of computing carbon calculators.
We would like to hear your thoughts and ideas! On Thursday, 04 December 2025 (10am - 12noon GMT) and Friday, 12 December 2025 (2pm - 4pm GMT), we are running two co-design workshops to improve the design of carbon calculators for computing activities, such as the Green Algorithms calculator - and are inviting you to participate. The workshops will be conducted online.
You can decide which of the two sessions to attend. During each one, you would be encouraged to talk about your experiences with computing carbon calculators and ideas on how to improve the way they display information. You might also be asked to draw sketches to visualise some of your answers (no design experience is required).
We would like to share the outcomes of the workshops with the wider research community. For this, we will record and later transcribe the workshops. Quotations from what you say during the workshop and any of the sketches you create may be used in publications, but they will be anonymised.
The workshops are part of a study we are running in collaboration with researchers from the University of Cambridge, Lancaster University, and Université Paris-Saclay.
Who can participate?
We are looking for input from a variety of people, including users of the Green Algorithms calculator and other carbon reporting tools, calculator designers, researchers and professionals that develop tools and methods for environmental assessments of digital technologies and services. There are no special requirements for participants, apart from an interest in the topic, a good understanding of English, and being at least 18 years old.
Further details can be found in the Participant Information Sheet.
